My Mom planted a 75 foot row of Provider green beans in the late spring, and today was the first big harvest. We tackled the row together, and it seemed never ending. Our bowls were brimming, so we began dumping them into a large box. Bowl after bowl, we made our way down the row. When we reached the end of the row our box was full. We will have our work cut out for us tonight snapping away.
The breezy weather has been wonderful today in the 80's, but I am not looking forward to the 100's again this weekend.

Those look SO good! You are so lucky to have so many. I bought some seeds from Johnney's and planted them but then my garden was washed away. So replated some more, then washed away again. Planted again. So far, so good! Maybe by the middle of August, I might be picking some beans too. Enjoy all those beans! Your garden looks great too.

My Aunt has had garden problems with the constant rain too.
I actually don't maintain that garden, my Mom does. I did last year, and told her it was her turn this year. I did grow alot of the plants for it though. I have my own small garden up by the house. Unfortunatly the weeds are winning the battle with me. Errr.

Looks great! What do you do with your harvest? Do you preserve them somehow? Or do you eat them fresh right away?
Tiffany,
We do eat some of them fresh (and share), but couldn't possible eat them all before they go bad. My Mom and I washed, and snapped them. Then my Mom blanched them, and put them in family serving size bags in the freezer.

Hi Kim,
Just discovered your blog and I really enjoy it. A couple of questions:
Are you a Christian?
What state are you in?
Larry
Hi Larry,
Yes I am a Christian.
Sorry I don't like to publically expose my location ; )
Kimberly
Boy, your quick on your replies! Are you a protestant? And I think I've figured out your state ;)
Larry
Larry,
No, I am a Bible believing Christian. I guess your comment just so happened to come through when I was checking my e-mail.
OK, So how did you come to find my blog? Do you raise any animals?
Kimberly
Kimberly,
If you're not a roman catholic and are a "bible believing christian" then you are a protestant ;)
I found you when I was looking at Rural Revolution blog.
No animals yet, I'm saving for some land and will get some..
Larry
Larry,
Sorry I was actually thinking of Presbyterian.
Kimberley,
Ha! no problem, but I am a Presbyterian (confessional AND bible believing)...
;)
Larry
